Middle School Mission Trip 2022 – early adventures

The middle schooler trip this year is made up of 11 people – 8 youth and 3 adult leaders-small but mighty!!

We’re staying at an ELCA camp – Camp Amnicon-on the shores or Lake Superior.

Our various service sites all have us wrestling with the questions of food insecurity. We worked at Second Harvest Food Bank, Eco Farm where we played with dirt (prepared the green house soil and mulch for planting) and spent Tuesday at the farm weeding and gleaning berries including Honey Berries (if you don’t know what they are, google them – they are yummy). We then delivered the berries to a food shelf in downtown Duluth. At this farm we also chased some chickens and had several members who now want chickens at home (good luck families!)

We have also had some fun seeing sites and building community. We mini golfed, swam in the river and Lake Superior, made a fire and ate s’mores!

We have only been here two days! Phew no wonder we’re tired!!

Keep us in your prayers!
